cat plays the piano

i often wonder what goes on inside the head of animals. i'm sure they have a sense of humour. and that they can appreciate things they sense. it's obvious that they appreciate taste, smell and touch.. but i also think they can appreciate imagery, that they find some things or places more pleasing to the eye than others. and sound- i think they can appreciate music. can a cat have a sense of beauty? does a sense of beauty have anything to do with intelligence?

here is a couple of videos of a cat playing piano. i think it's amazing as the cat seems to not just mechanically attack the piano, but it seems genuinely interested in the sounds. and it even plays together with people! it's an actual musical, artistic cat. the music it makes reminds me of how i'd play on the piano as a 4 year old. and i do remember thinking i made actual music at the time.

watch both of the videos!

the owners says this about nora's piano skills:
"This is not a trick that was taught to Nora. She began sitting at the piano at about one-year-old. She's four now. She plays only when the mood strikes her, which is usually several time a times a day for short periods."
